Two Jay FM Journalists Reported Missing After Covering COCIN Funeral Service in Jos
Two journalists with Jay FM Jos — Ruth Marcus and Keshia Jang — have been reported missing after covering the funeral service of the late mother of the APC National Chairman, held at the COCIN Headquarters Church in Jos on Saturday.
According to a statement posted on the station’s verified platform, the reporters were last seen during the event but have since gone missing. Jay FM said it suspects that the journalists may have been arrested by security agents following a video report shared on the station’s social media pages. The video allegedly captured a face-off between a cleric and some security personnel at the church premises.
“The management is trying to verify which of the security agencies are holding them and their current location,” the statement read. The station also reaffirmed its position, saying it stands by its report on the incident between the clergy and security officials during the funeral service.
In a follow-up statement signed by Comrade Clinton Garuba, Managing Director and CEO of Jay 101.9 FM, the station announced plans for a press briefing regarding the disappearance of the two journalists.
The briefing is scheduled to hold on Sunday, 5th October 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Jay FM Conference Hall, located at No. 14 Akila Machunga Street, behind the National Library, Jos.
According to Garuba, the briefing will address details surrounding the journalists’ disappearance, which occurred while they were covering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Jos in connection with the funeral event.
Jay FM has called on the media, the public, and relevant authorities to join efforts in ensuring the safe return of its reporters.
