The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed reports claiming that it has increased registration fees for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).
In a statement issued on Friday, the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, described the reports as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.
According to the examination body, the approved registration fees remain N7,200 for UTME candidates without mock examinations, N8,700 for those opting for the mock test, and N5,700 for Direct Entry applicants.
The Board noted that the current fee structure has been in place since 2019 and has not been reviewed upward despite increasing operational costs.
JAMB also recalled that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction in the UTME application fee from N5,000 to N3,500, a policy that took effect from the 2019 registration exercise.
Since that government-approved reduction, the Board said it has maintained the same charges without any increment.
