Saudi Aramco has suspended operations at its Ras Tanura refinery following reports of a drone strike in the area, according to Reuters.
Ras Tanura, one of the world’s largest oil refining and export facilities, has a refining capacity of around 550,000 barrels per day and serves as Saudi Arabia’s biggest oil export terminal. The site handles roughly 6.5 million barrels of crude daily, accounting for nearly 7% of global oil supply.
Reports suggest the attack was carried out by Iran, amid escalating regional tensions, targeting critical Aramco infrastructure. A fire reportedly broke out in the refinery’s processing complex but has since been contained. Authorities say no casualties have been confirmed.
The incident comes shortly after a series of strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, which began on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
