In a startling case from Kebbi State, a young boy has been arrested for allegedly pretending to be deaf for nearly a year to secretly gather and relay information to kidnappers.
The revelation was made by Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari on Monday, March 2, 2026. According to Yari, the boy confessed that he and two accomplices were sent to spy on residents in the Makera Gandu area of Birnin Kebbi.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he had been taught sign language to communicate with his co-conspirators. Though currently living in Kebbi State, he is originally from Niger State.
Yari urged residents to remain vigilant, warning: “Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious behavior to the authorities.”
The case underscores the sophisticated tactics employed by some criminal groups and highlights the critical need for community awareness and caution.
