The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a public alert over a fake and unauthorised website circulating online, falsely claiming to be an “INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026.”

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commission clarified that the website — https://okripeti.org/Inec-ADhoc-Staff-Recruitment.html — is not affiliated with INEC in any form and should be completely avoided.

INEC warned that all information, statistics, and application forms on the website are false and designed to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to alert the general public to the existence of a fake and unauthorized website currently circulating online, falsely claiming to be an ‘INEC Ad-hoc Staff Recruitment Portal 2026,’” the statement read.

“INEC hereby states clearly that the following website is FAKE and NOT affiliated with the Commission in any way. Any information or application process on the site is misleading and intended to defraud applicants.”

The Commission stressed that recruitment of ad-hoc staff is conducted only through its official platform, known as INECPRES, and warned that any other website or link is unauthorised.

According to INEC, the only authentic platforms for the 2026 FCT Area Council Election ad-hoc staff recruitment are:

INEC advised prospective applicants to remain vigilant and take the following precautions:

  • Verify recruitment information only through INEC’s official platforms
  • Avoid clicking or registering on suspicious or unofficial links
  • Refrain from submitting personal details such as BVN, passwords, OTPs, or bank information on non-INEC websites
  • Always confirm that official URLs end with inecnigeria.org

The Commission further advised anyone who may have already registered on the fake portal to stop immediately and reapply only through the official INEC links.

“INEC remains committed to transparency, credibility, and the protection of the public from fraudulent activities,” the statement added.
