IGP Visits Maiduguri Bomb Blast Victims, Assesses Security Situation

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of the recent explosions in Maiduguri to offer condolences and assess the security situation following the tragic incident.

According to a statement shared on the official X handle of the Nigeria Police Force, the police chief visited injured victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

Disu also carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the blast scene at the Monday Market, where the explosions occurred.

During his visit, the IGP also stopped at the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters as part of his engagements.

He commiserated with the victims and their families while reassuring residents of ongoing efforts by security agencies to address the situation.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in dismantling all networks responsible for the attacks and preventing any recurrence,” he said.

The statement added that security has been strengthened across the state, with increased deployments, enhanced surveillance, and joint operational measures introduced in Maiduguri and surrounding areas to prevent further threats.
