The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the release of former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, from its custody.

Tambuwal was invited and detained by the anti-graft agency on Monday, August 11, over allegations of fraudulently withdrawing ₦189 billion during his tenure as governor.

According to EFCC sources, the former governor was granted administrative bail and is expected to leave the commission’s headquarters later tonight after meeting his bail conditions.

The EFCC has yet to release full details of the investigation, but sources indicate that Tambuwal will be required to appear before the commission as part of ongoing inquiries into the alleged financial misconduct.
