‘Filled With Yorubas, Northerners’ – Shehu Sani Comments on Tribal Composition of Tinubu’s Political Appointments

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has weighed in on the debate regarding the tribal composition of President Bola Tinubu’s political appointments, claiming that Yorubas and Northerners dominate the list.

Sani made the remark in a post on X, in response to the breakdown provided by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare. Dare had shared details of the president’s appointments, which included 71 Northerners and 63 Southerners, out of a total of 134 federal appointees.

Dare provided the breakdown in response to a comment by Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, that Tinubu’s appointments were lopsided.
Stressing that Tinubu’s appointments were sectional, Ndume said they fell short of federal character principles.
Responding, Dare insisted that Tinubu’s appointments followed the federal character principles.
However, Sani posted on X: “A list is shared online with the names of political appointees and their tribes. The Yorubas and the Northerners dominate the list.

“If you are so passionate about the tribal identity of political appointees, please quickly enter into the office of your tribesmen in office and get a job or contract.”
