A 74-year-old woman, Grace Okafor, on Tuesday presented a live fowl as a gift during the inauguration ceremony of Chukwuma Soludo in Awka.

The event, held at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square, saw Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim, sworn in for a second term in office.

Several dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Okafor, who arrived at the venue in a wheelchair, drew cheers from the crowd as she danced toward the podium while holding the live fowl in a bucket.

The elderly woman explained that the gesture was a show of appreciation for a ₦100,000 cash gift she had earlier received from the governor.

Okafor, a native of Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area, said she received the money from Soludo during an event in Eziowelle community and invested it in poultry farming.

“I came to witness the swearing-in of Gov. Soludo because he gave me ₦100,000 during an event in my community in Eziowelle. I invested the money in poultry, and this fowl is part of the proceeds. I am here to show my appreciation,” she said.
