Nigerian senator Ned Nwoko has responded after his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, publicly released the results of a drug test showing no presence of drugs in her system.

The test, which Regina said was conducted in the United Kingdom, indicated a negative result for drugs. She explained that she chose to make the findings public to address allegations of drug addiction reportedly made by Nwoko, adding that she wanted her children to know the truth and be proud of her.

Reacting in a lengthy statement, Nwoko dismissed the test as inconclusive, insisting that “temporary abstinence is not sobriety.”

“Temporary abstinence does not erase the underlying challenges that brought this situation to light,” the senator wrote, adding that recovery and accountability require sustained professional effort rather than social media engagement.

Nwoko questioned the circumstances surrounding the recent test and claimed that earlier assessments conducted by two independent medical centres in Nigeria and South Africa had indicated drug and alcohol use. He said the reports were professionally documented and would be presented in court, with the facilities involved expected to testify if subpoenaed.

According to him, presenting a later negative test as proof that no prior substance use occurred was “misleading and disingenuous,” stressing that it only reflects abstinence over a period of time and does not invalidate previous findings.

The senator also addressed references to MDMA (commonly known as Molly), stating that regardless of how it is described, it remains a drug with serious risks.

Nwoko further revealed that efforts were previously made to support Regina through private rehabilitation and supervised therapy, following a court judgment that reportedly granted him custody and ordered her to undergo supervised treatment.

He maintained that genuine healing and accountability require honesty, long-term professional support, and quiet commitment rather than public disputes, adding that any test conducted would ultimately be subject to court scrutiny.
