Nigerian music star Davido has revealed his ambition to venture into acting, expressing a keen interest in playing the role of a taxi driver in an upcoming movie.

The award-winning artist made the disclosure during a panel session at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) titled “Rhythms of the Continent: The Afrobeat Movement and Its Impacts on African Film.”

Sharing his excitement about exploring film production and collaborating with African creatives, Davido said:

“My brother was saying that he was going to give me a role. I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something — like something out of the blue. He has to figure that out. So I definitely want to get involved in movies.”

Davido also cited global stars such as 50 Cent, who transitioned from music into film and television production, as key inspirations for his next career move.

The Unavailable crooner added that he hopes to produce authentic African stories that showcase the continent’s creativity and diversity, noting that he draws creative influence from film projects like Uncorked.

With this revelation, Davido joins the growing list of Nigerian musicians exploring the world of film and storytelling beyond the music stage.
