Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has been officially inducted as a member of the Recording Academy, giving him a role in the decision-making process of the Grammy Awards.

The singer described his admission as “a gamechanger,” noting that membership offers him the opportunity to influence what gets considered and voted on each season. “I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” Davido said in a broadcast message, adding that he feels honoured to join the prestigious body.

Davido secured his first three Grammy nominations in 2024 but missed out on winning. His fourth nomination came through his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay on “Sensational,” which was nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammys but lost to Tems’ “Love Me Jeje.”

With this new milestone, Davido is set to play an active role in shaping the future of global music recognition at the 2026 Grammys and beyond.
