Civic advocacy organisation BudgIT has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to present the proposed ₦54.4 trillion 2026 budget to the National Assembly without first releasing a performance report on the 2025 budget.
BudgIT made the allegation in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday.
The claim follows reports that President Tinubu is expected to lay the 2026 Appropriation Bill before the National Assembly on Friday.
Reacting to the development, BudgIT said the Federal Government has yet to publish a budget implementation report for the 2025 fiscal year, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
“There is still no budget implementation report for 2025,” the organisation stated.
“The 2026 budget is almost here, yet Nigerians do not know how the 2025 budget performed. No report. No accountability,” it added.
President Tinubu had, in February 2025, signed the ₦54.99 trillion 2025 budget into law.
