In response to the escalating security concerns, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced a 24-hour curfew in Mangu Local Government Area, effective immediately. The decision follows a surge in security challenges within the region.
Governor Mutfwang’s choice to impose the curfew came after consultations with relevant security agencies. Under this directive, only individuals engaged in essential duties are permitted to move within Mangu Local Government Area until further notice.
The governor appealed to all citizens, particularly residents of Mangu, to adhere to the curfew and collaborate with security forces by providing credible information to restore peace and order in the affected area.
Expressing concern, Governor Mutfwang lamented the determination of certain individuals to perpetuate an environment of insecurity in the state, despite the government’s concerted efforts to quell the activities of terrorist elements.
Acknowledging the hardships faced by families affected by the unrest, he offered his condolences to the victims and their kin. Governor Mutfwang affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving lasting peace in the state. He assured the public that the curfew would be subject to review as soon as the security situation witnesses improvement.
