Popular online health educator Aproko Doctor has dismissed claims circulating on social media that women who undergo abortions are more likely to develop fibroids, stressing that the condition is not caused by such procedures.

The clarification followed discussions on X, where some users expressed concern about the growing number of young women diagnosed with fibroids. One user recounted meeting a 25-year-old woman who said she had been diagnosed with the condition at 23, prompting questions about why women under 30 are increasingly affected.

Others suggested that fibroids may be linked to abortions, with some attributing the claim to religious figures who allegedly teach that the growths occur in women who have terminated pregnancies.

Reacting to the conversation, Aproko Doctor rejected the assertion, explaining that fibroids are primarily associated with genetics, hormonal factors, and race. He noted that Black women are statistically at a higher risk of developing fibroids compared to women of other racial backgrounds.

He urged women to seek accurate medical information and professional guidance rather than rely on myths or unverified claims when dealing with reproductive health issues.
