A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is working to ensure that Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerges as the only candidate on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

Momodu made the allegation on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television.

The former presidential aspirant said the number of governors controlled by the APC does not intimidate the opposition, insisting that the ruling party could still lose if elections were held today.

According to him, “The APC is trying to make sure that President Tinubu is the only candidate on the ballot.”

Momodu added that the opposition was not disturbed by the political maneuvers of the ruling party.

“They are trying to manoeuvre, but Nigerians are wiser than them. We are not worried or panicking in the ADC,” he said.

The publisher of Ovation International also criticized the conduct of the recent Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), alleging excessive interference by government officials.

“Just one election in a small city like FCT, they had to declare a curfew, and the minister of the FCT became the IGP, personally supervising polling stations across the city,” he stated.

Momodu maintained that despite the ruling party’s dominance in several states, the opposition remains confident of defeating the APC in future elections.
