Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua, has been arraigned before a Sagamu Magistrate Court by the Ogun State Police Command.
The police had earlier confirmed on Thursday that the driver was in custody following the incident. Providing an update on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Kayode was formally charged to court on Friday, January 2, 2026.
According to the statement, the case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026, for further hearing.
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026, and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026,” the statement read.
Recall that Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal road accident on Monday in Ogun State, which reportedly claimed the lives of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
