Air Chief Appoints New Commanders, Principal Officers in Major NAF Reshuffle

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Anele, has approved the posting and appointment of new principal officers and commanders across various units and formations of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the appointments are part of strategic efforts to enhance operational efficiency, foster synergy, and align with the new leadership’s command philosophy.

Ejodame explained that the reshuffle was designed to optimize command effectiveness, strengthen decision-making, and improve mission readiness in response to the evolving security landscape.

Under the new posting, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Abdullahi has been appointed Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun assumes duty as Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna.

Also, AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye has been named Group Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) Group of Companies, AVM Precious Amadi becomes Chief of Operations, and AVM Nnamdi Ananaba takes over as Chief of Air Intelligence.

Other senior officers affected include AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe, appointed Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation; AVM Ahmed Dari, Chief of Training; and AVM Mohammed Ibrahim, who now heads the Transformation and Innovation Branch.

In the logistics and engineering domains, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina was appointed Chief of Aircraft Engineering, while AVM Michael Onyebashi takes over as Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Mobility Command. AVM David Pwajok is now Chief of Communication and Information Systems, and AVM John Ukeh has been named Air Provost Marshal.

For administrative and welfare roles, AVM Simon Peter becomes Managing Director of NAFIL Housing and Construction Company; AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka takes over as Air Secretary; AVM Anthony Martins assumes the position of Chief of Administration; and AVM Abubakar Sule is now AOC, Logistics Command.

Others include AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun, appointed Managing Director of NAF Farms; AVM Edward Gabkwet, now Chief of Civil-Military Relations; and AVM Osichinaka Ubadike, who has been named Deputy Commandant of AFIT.

Additionally, AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe have been redeployed to key defence and inter-service establishments to further strengthen joint operations and enhance national defence coordination.

The statement noted that the latest postings reflect the Air Chief’s commitment to ensuring that the NAF remains adaptive, responsive, and mission-ready to meet Nigeria’s security challenges.
