A disagreement has emerged within the African Democratic Congress following a dispute between two senior party figures, John Oyegun and Roland Owie, over who possesses the legitimate authority to convene a caucus meeting.
The tension reportedly escalated on Monday when Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, hosted a caucus meeting at his residence in the GRA area and allegedly prevented Owie and his supporters from attending.
Sources said Owie arrived at the venue alongside some associates to challenge the legitimacy of the meeting but was denied entry at the gate. The group was reportedly turned back by individuals believed to be security aides and other supporters present at the residence.
Police officers were later deployed to the area to maintain order and prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Further details are expected as the situation develops.
