The Nigerian movie industry has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of Nollywood actress and producer, Allwell Ademola, who passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, after reportedly suffering a heart attack at her residence.

The sad development was first confirmed by her colleagues in the industry, with actors Damola Olatunji, Mr Latin, Fathia Williams, and Bidemi Kosoko among the first to announce her passing on social media, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow actors.

Reacting to the loss, her cousin and colleague, Muyiwa Ademola, penned an emotional tribute on Instagram, describing the news as one of the saddest he had ever received. In the touching post, the actor openly begged for forgiveness from anyone he might have wronged and announced that he had also forgiven everyone who had offended him.

“Please and please, if I have wronged you in any way, do forgive me,” he wrote, adding that the loss had made him let go of all grudges as he called for peace in what he described as an “empty world.”

Meanwhile, the Ademola family has officially broken its silence on the actress’ death, clarifying that Allwell Ademola was 49 years old, contrary to earlier reports that stated she was 43.

In a statement signed by Adeboyega Adebayo on behalf of the family, Allwell was described as a proud daughter of the Ademola family of Ogun State and a great-granddaughter of the Alake of Egbaland, who remained deeply committed to the creative arts throughout her life.

“With heavy hearts and total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, and aunt, Princess Allwell Ademola,” the statement read. “From childhood until her passing, she distinguished herself as a thespian, actor, singer, and filmmaker, touching many lives through her art.”

The family also expressed appreciation to colleagues, friends, and well-wishers for the overwhelming support received since her demise, adding that burial arrangements would be announced later.

Adding to the emotional weight of her passing, a check on Allwell Ademola’s Instagram page revealed that she had shared a video barely 24 hours before her death, where she was seen singing a prayer song declaring, “In the name of Jesus, I will see the end of this year; this year will not see my end.”

The post has since gone viral, leaving fans and colleagues reflecting on the suddenness of her passing and the legacy she left behind in the Nigerian film industry.
