Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has confirmed the release of 38 individuals who were abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
The victims, taken during the assault last week, regained their freedom on Sunday following days of coordinated efforts by security agencies and federal authorities, the governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that President Bola Tinubu had ordered enhanced security operations in response to recent incidents in Kwara and Kebbi states, including the deployment of additional tactical teams to Kwara.
He expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force for their roles in the rescue operation. The governor also commended community leaders and residents for their support during the period.
Security agencies have yet to provide further details on how the victims were rescued or whether any arrests were made.
