The 24 students abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, have been safely released, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
According to reliable government and security sources, the girls were rescued earlier in the day and are being transported to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi for medical checks and debriefing.
“The girls have been freed. They are on their way to the State House,” a senior official said.

Details of how the rescue was executed have not been officially disclosed. Security sources, however, indicated that the breakthrough resulted from intensified joint operations by the military, police, vigilantes, and intelligence teams along forest routes in the area.
The students were abducted on Monday, November 17, when gunmen attacked their boarding school in Maga, sparking widespread concern and condemnation.
The successful rescue brings relief to the families of the students and the wider community, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction.
