Protesters on Tuesday gathered for the second consecutive day at the National Assembly Complex, intensifying calls for the real-time transmission of election results from polling units to the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The demonstrators assembled at the entrance of the complex in Abuja, chanting slogans such as “We no go gree, we no go gree, Akpabio, pass the bill,” and “Our vote must count,” as they urged lawmakers to prioritise the proposed legislation.
Several protesters carried placards with messages including “Don’t alter the bill, pass it,” and “Rigging election is a coup,” reflecting concerns about electoral transparency and credibility.
The chants were largely directed at Senate President Godswill Akpabio, with demonstrators pressing the leadership of the National Assembly to ensure swift passage of the bill mandating electronic transmission of results.
