Former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama has revealed that she was initially against her husband, Barack Obama’s, bid for the presidency.
Speaking on a new podcast, IMO, with her brother, Craig Robinson, Michelle admitted that she had reservations about Barack’s political ambitions.
“I couldn’t have gotten through eight years in the White House without my big brother,” the 61-year-old said. “Being married to the President of the United States [is a] thing that none of us kind of banked on. We knew Barack was smart and ambitious, but, you know…”
Michelle, who has openly expressed her distaste for politics in the past, credited Robinson for persuading her to back Barack’s campaign.
“You talked me into supporting his run. And he was smart enough to know that he needed to come to you and sell you on the idea,” Michelle said.
“Because I was definitely like, no, no way.”
Michelle Obama served as America’s First Lady for eight years, between 2009 and 2017.
