Traders at Eleyele Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, shut down the market on Friday, January 10, to mourn the deaths of two individuals who lost their lives in a tragic accident earlier in the week.
Daily Post reports that a truck fully loaded with granite on Wednesday lost control and rammed into some traders who were at the roadside.
It was learnt that about two people lost their lives as a result of the accident.
It was learnt that several other people sustained various degrees of injuries during the incident.
As of Friday, those who sustained various degrees of injuries were still receiving medical attention in various hospitals.
However, the market was shutdown on Friday to pray for the soul of those who lost their lives and pray to avert future occurrences in the market.
Another source revealed that the leaders of the market decided to shut down the market to organise prayer to avert future occurrences.
One of the sources said, “Eleyele market was shut down today. The market was shut down so as to organise prayer to avert future occurrences in the market.
“There was an accident on Wednesday, some people lost their lives and the market was shutdown today”.
Another source said, “Yes, Eleyele market has been shut down today. It I true. It was done so as to honor those who lost their lives and pray against future occurrences”.
