Shehu Gabam, the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has suggested that President Bola Tinubu may face challenges securing a second term in office, citing historical trends of Nigerian presidents encountering significant opposition within their first two years in office.
He spoke while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme yesterday.
Gabam recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan failed because opposition started in his second year.
According to Gabam: “No president that was elected to serve four years and has issues in two years can survive.
“Jonathan’s opposition started within two years – he lost election.”
Gabam also noted that the ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet lacked the capacity to push the president’s vision.
He said Nigeria has never faced the economic hardship they are facing today.
