In a gesture of goodwill to mark the New Year, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has pardoned one prisoner and paid fines for 10 others, thereby nullifying their respective jail terms. The announcement was made during his statewide New Year broadcast on January 1, 2025, which outlined his administration’s achievements in 2024 and plans for 2025.
Governor Mutfwang described the New Year as a “year of hope renewal, great opportunities, and transformative progress” for Plateau State. He expressed gratitude to God, the citizens, and security agencies for their support and sacrifices in advancing the state’s development.
As part of his efforts to foster justice and rehabilitation, Governor Mutfwang extended clemency to Moses Reuben through an absolute pardon. Fines were also paid for 10 other offenders, including Saleh Muhammadu, Mohammed Ado, Safa David, Timothy Sunday, David Yusuf, Abba Ahmed, Umar Adamu, Mannaseh Dada, Na’Answan, and Sunday Joseph.
The Governor’s broadcast also reflected on significant achievements in 2024, such as investments in security, agriculture, education, and urban renewal. Highlights included the partial reactivation of BARC Farms, the introduction of modern buses to ease transportation challenges, and advancements in healthcare and infrastructure.
Governor Mutfwang emphasized his administration’s commitment to sustainable development in 2025, particularly in agriculture, education, technology, and traditional institution revitalization. He called on citizens to embrace unity and shun ethnic, political, and religious divisions.
“We will continue to prioritize projects and policies that touch lives and uplift communities,” he said, urging residents to work together to achieve the Plateau of their dreams.
Concluding his address, Governor Mutfwang extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security personnel, and international partners for their collaboration in the state’s development journey.
“Welcome to 2025—a year of hope and transformation. Plateau shall rise again,” he declared.
