The Christmas spirit was alive in Mai Idon Taro village, Nafok Zone, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, as over 200 community members were beneficiaries of a distribution of rice and wrappers. The event, organized by Mrs. Anchomo Jim Pam Wayas, wife of Plateau State Internal Revenue Chairman Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, in collaboration with the local Councilor, Hon. Emmanuel Shut, brought hope and joy to widows, elders, and residents from across the community.
The distribution, held in the presence of local leaders, religious dignitaries, and His Royal Highness Gwom Nafok, Gyang Wang Pam, saw gifts given to 80 widows, the largest group of beneficiaries, as well as other men and women from units such as Bek, Z/Kamang, Kubong Kamang, Rongot, MIT 1, MIT 2, and more.
HRH Gwom Nafok commended the initiative, calling it “a true reflection of the dividends of democracy” reaching grassroots communities. He urged the beneficiaries to accept the gifts with gratitude and called on the Plateau State Government to address the community’s road challenges for further development. “Just like Oliver Twist, we ask for more while praying for blessings upon the givers,” he added.
Mrs. Anchomo Jim Pam Wayas encouraged the recipients to embrace gratitude and make the best of the items shared. “I know it’s not much, but what you receive with thanksgiving, God will multiply,” she said. She also called for unity and collaboration within the community to create more impactful initiatives.
Hon. Emmanuel Shut, the Councilor representing the community, reaffirmed his commitment to his constituency, emphasizing that the initiative was driven by humanity rather than politics. “This is about showing love to our people, not politics,” he stated, expressing gratitude to Mrs. Anchomo for her support and partnership in making the event a success.
Community leaders also applauded the initiative. The local PDP Chairman, Mr. Sunday Pam, described the event as “a beacon of hope,” while the Zonal CAN Chairman, Pastor Samson Ayuba, prayed for blessings upon the organizers and urged others to emulate their generosity.
The event ended on a joyful note, with beneficiaries singing songs of praise and gratitude to the Wayas family and the organizers. Their heartfelt appreciation captured the essence of the Christmas season—a time for love, giving, and community.
This act of generosity highlights the power of small gestures to bring hope and unity, reminding all of the true meaning of the holiday season.
