Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reassured supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of the party’s commitment to stabilizing its structure and restoring hope to Nigerians.
Governor Mutfwang made this statement during a Gala Night held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Rayfield, where he hosted the PDP Governors’ Forum for a strategic meeting.
He expressed gratitude to the Governors and party stakeholders who traveled from across the country to attend the event in the “Home of Peace and Tourism.” The Governor highlighted the significance of the gathering in redefining the party’s future and restoring its position as the party of choice for Nigerians.
“Even though this is primarily a meeting of Governors, it is gratifying to see party leaders and stakeholders from various states filling this room to support the Governors as we strategize to ensure not only the stability of our party but also its ability to continue providing hope to Nigerians,” Governor Mutfwang stated.
Plateau’s Role in PDP’s Legacy
Governor Mutfwang also reflected on Plateau State’s historical importance to the PDP, noting that the state hosted the party’s first convention and produced its first National Chairman. He proudly declared Plateau as the “Home of PDP,” emphasizing that the state had returned to its roots after years of opposition rule.
“By the grace of God, after years of miserable leadership by the opposition on the Plateau, the people have welcomed their party back. The PDP and I are determined to improve the lives of our people and fulfill the party’s mandate of social justice and empowerment,” he affirmed.
National Leaders Reaffirm Unity
Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, commended the party’s stakeholders for their steadfast support. He highlighted the PDP’s unity despite challenges, emphasizing its role as a political force committed to providing hope and good governance.
“The PDP remains an indivisible party. Despite minor hiccups, we are united with all organs and leaders of the party. We will continue to work together to provide Nigerians with opportunities for better governance,” Senator Mohammed said.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, also reassured party members of the Governors’ determination to reform and reposition the PDP for leadership in Nigeria.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Governors Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Deputy Governors from Bayelsa, Enugu, and Plateau States. Other attendees included the PDP Acting National Chairman, Illiya Damagum, former Plateau Governor, Senator Jonah David Jang, former Kaduna Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, and former Niger Governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, among others.
