Plateau State University (PLASU) Bokkos is grieving the loss of Mr. Bulus Mador, a key figure in the university’s community relations, who passed away on Sunday, October 27, after a brief illness. Mr. Mador, who held the traditional title of Galadima of Butura, was a dedicated leader and Chairman of the joint community relations committee between the university and the host community.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best expressed deep sorrow over Mr. Mador’s passing, describing it as a “significant setback” to the institution. “His passing has created a deep void and caused a major setback in the university’s ongoing infrastructural and academic expansion drive,” Prof. Best said. The university had relied heavily on Mr. Mador’s efforts in mediating and resolving land-related disputes, which had been instrumental in fostering peaceful coexistence between PLASU and the local community.
Reflecting on Mr. Mador’s commitment, Prof. Best shared that the late community leader had spent Saturday, October 26, in meetings with university and community representatives. He was scheduled to continue these discussions the next day but tragically passed away before the meeting could resume.
During a condolence visit to Mr. Mador’s residence, the District Head of Butura, Engr. Dr. John Makwal Mallo, and Danladi Mahanan, a representative of the bereaved family, expressed appreciation for the university’s support and solidarity. They emphasized the importance of maintaining unity between the university and its host community, a cause Mr. Mador championed throughout his tenure.
Mr. Mador’s legacy of fostering unity and cooperation will continue to inspire the university and community, leaving a lasting impact on future generations.
