In a tragic turn of events, seven people were killed and several others critically injured in renewed attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the local market, shortly after it had closed for the day. Most traders and customers had already left, leaving only a few behind when the attackers struck.
Brigadier-General Gakji Shipi (rtd), Special Adviser on Security and Homeland Safety, confirmed the attacks. “Unfortunately, we had two separate attacks yesterday, one in Kwatas and the other in Dafur. So far, the casualty count stands at seven dead, with several others injured. As of this morning, the situation is calm, but we are not letting our guard down. We are actively pursuing those responsible for this heinous act and will ensure they are brought to justice,” he stated.
Local sources report that the injured victims are in critical condition and are receiving medical treatment. The attacks have further escalated security concerns in Bokkos LGA, which has recently seen a disturbing rise in violence.
This latest attack adds to the growing insecurity in Bokkos LGA, where communities have been repeatedly targeted, leaving residents in fear and uncertainty. The community now faces the heartbreaking task of mourning their dead while hoping for improved security measures to prevent further tragedies.
