The Soft Launch of the Kaduna Christian Cup took place today, September 18, 2024, at Kalapanzi Barracks, Kakori, with churches, community leaders, and youths in attendance. The event marked the beginning of a football championship aimed at uniting Christian communities and showcasing youth talent in Kaduna State.
Geoffrey Bottson, President of the Lighthouse Rescue Sports Outreach (LRSO), officially kicked off the tournament. In his remarks, Bottson highlighted the significance of the championship, noting that the top two teams would qualify to compete in the Nigerian Christian Cup in November 2024. He also revealed that scholarship opportunities for exceptionally talented and God-fearing players were already being discussed with various academies and schools.
Daniel Zakka, the Project Manager, addressed the players during the event, providing them with encouragement, explaining the rules, and emphasizing the code of conduct expected throughout the championship. Zakka instilled a sense of hope and motivation in the young players as they prepared to compete.
The youths, eager to showcase their skills, delivered an exciting display of football talent, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the soft launch. The tournament is expected to foster unity among the Christian community while offering opportunities for young players to excel both on and off the field.
