The soft launch of the Taraba Christian Cup took place on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 4:00 PM, with a vibrant display of faith and sportsmanship. The event began with a prayer session, led by Rev. Gideon Masho, Vice President of the Taraba Baptist Conference, alongside other officials. Elder Jonah Samuel, Director of the Men’s Missionary Union (MMU), officially kicked off the tournament by striking the first ball, declaring the competition open.
During the match, Rev. Gideon Masho was introduced to the core mission of the Lighthouse Rescue Sports Outreach (LRSO), which aims to spread the gospel through sporting activities. Rev. Masho embraced the initiative and promised to lead a prayer session for the players during their break.
The match between First Baptist Church Jalingo and Grace Baptist Church ended in a 0-0 draw, with no injuries or incidents reported. The strong turnout from the various churches, especially First Baptist Church, was impressive, with supporters cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines.
