In a bid to bolster security across Plateau State, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has distributed over 100 motorcycles, along with raincoats and rainboots, to various security agencies. This initiative is specifically targeted at improving surveillance and operational effectiveness in rural communities, where challenging terrains have posed significant obstacles.
The distribution ceremony took place on Thursday at the Old Government House in Rayfield, where Governor Mutfwang emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. He noted that this distribution is part of a larger intervention strategy aimed at empowering security personnel to navigate difficult terrains and enhance their capabilities in rural areas.
“This marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts to secure peace and stability in Plateau State. Over the past two months, we have made considerable progress in our pursuit of a safer Plateau. Providing our security agencies with essential logistics, particularly in rural areas, is crucial for protecting our farmers and ensuring they can produce enough food for our people,” Governor Mutfwang stated.
He also highlighted the state’s investment in advanced technology to tackle security challenges and warned against the misuse of the motorcycles for personal purposes, assuring that strict measures would be implemented to prevent any misconduct.
The Secretary to the Government of the State, Mr. Samuel Jatau, detailed that the distributed items would be allocated to various security outfits, including the military, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Operation Rainbow.
Speaking on behalf of the security agencies, Mr. Alexander Barunde, the Commandant of NSCDC in Plateau State, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his support. He assured that the equipment would be effectively utilized to enhance security across the state.
