Peter Obi has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating collapse of a school building in Busa Buji village, Jos, Plateau State. The tragic incident, which occurred while students were writing their exams, has claimed the lives of at least 16 children, leaving many others, including teachers, trapped under the rubble.
“I am disheartened by the heartbreaking reports of the unfortunate collapse of a school building in Busa Buji village, Jos, Plateau State, today,” Obi stated. “This tragedy has left at least 16 of our children dead, and many others, including teachers, trapped under the rubble.”
Obi acknowledged the trauma experienced by the young students and their parents, who are undoubtedly worried about their children’s safety. He praised the swift response of various organizations involved in the rescue operations, including the FRSC, NEMA, Red Cross, Army, Police, and numerous individuals assisting in the efforts to rescue those trapped.
“I sympathize with the Government and People of Plateau State, the management, staff, and students of the school, and the families of all the victims affected,” Obi said. He urged the government to conduct thorough investigations into the incident to determine the causes and prevent future occurrences nationwide.
“My sincere prayers are with the remaining trapped children and teachers for their safe rescue,” Obi added. “May God grant eternal rest to the deceased, provide their families with the strength to endure this painful loss, and grant a speedy recovery to the injured.”
The tragic event has left the community and the nation in mourning as rescue efforts continue and investigations begin to uncover the reasons behind the collapse.
