Senator Diket Plang, representing the Plateau Central senatorial district, commissioned a solar power electrical system at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Jos Network Center on Monday, May 27, 2024. This significant donation underscores the senator’s commitment to supporting people-oriented projects.
During the unveiling ceremony, Senator Plang expressed his fulfillment in completing the project, comparing it to some of the happiest moments in his life. “Today is one of the days that I feel fulfilled,” he stated. “Just as when I was announced a winner, I was happy. Or the day I got married, I was very happy. When I got my first child, I was happy. Or the day when I got my first grandchild, I was happy. This is another milestone achievement that I like. There is people oriented.”
Senator Plang emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of the community. “May our projects be people-oriented. May we hear the feelings of people and bring it to actualization,” he said. He highlighted his relationship with NTA, noting that it involves understanding their challenges and providing solutions.
Reflecting on the process, Plang shared, “NTA reporters are quite kind to me. I got closer to NTA and they made a request on the issue of energy supply to light their studio. They sent a budget to me while I was in Kigali, and upon my return, I ensured the project was completed to their specifications.”
Senator Plang also touched on national issues, praising the federal government’s removal of the oil subsidy as a significant and necessary step. “The removal of oil subsidy is one of the strongest will of a leader who desires to test the future of this nation,” he remarked. As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Employment, Labor, and Productivity, he assured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to improving welfare, security, and progress.
The senator commended President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady for their dedication to Nigeria’s progress, expressing his confidence in the government’s vision and efforts. “I see a president who is mentally alert. I see a wife of a president who is in tune with the Nigerian dream,” he noted, adding that the Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, is determined to work in harmony with the executive and judiciary to deliver the dividends of democracy.
Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, the Zonal Director of NTA Network Centre Jos, expressed her gratitude for Senator Plang’s contribution. “This laudable contribution by the Senator will assist the network center to be more efficient,” she stated, highlighting the positive impact of the new solar power system on their operations.
The commissioning of the solar power system marks a significant step in enhancing the operational efficiency of NTA Jos, reflecting Senator Plang’s dedication to community-driven initiatives and sustainable development.
