In a decisive meeting held today, the Councillors and Members of the Jos South Local Government Legislative Assembly have reaffirmed their commitment to serving their constituents and defending the autonomy of local governance. Under the leadership of the democratically elected Leader, Rt. Hon. Simon Davou, the assembly unanimously passed several key resolutions.
Key Resolutions Passed by the Assembly:
1. Commitment to Service: The assembly emphasized their unwavering determination to exercise the powers entrusted to them by their electorates. The Councillors reaffirmed their dedication to serving as Honourable Members in the Jos South Local Government Legislative House.
2. Constitutional Mandate: The Councillors reiterated that their mandate is constitutionally backed. They vowed to uphold their oath of office and serve their full term with integrity and dedication.
3. Support for ALGON: The assembly expressed solid support for the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). They backed ALGON’s efforts to resist attempts by the Plateau State Government to undermine local governance and deny grassroots communities their right to be governed by democratically elected officials.
4. Unified Commitment: The members of the assembly unanimously agreed to uphold these resolutions. They asserted that no part of the resolutions would be altered without the collective agreement of all members of the Jos South Legislative Council.
