In a solemn ceremony marked by prayers and reflections, Christians in Plateau State received a poignant message urging them to prioritize the spiritual over the material. Brother Gbili Akanni delivered this admonition during the reopening, rededication and commissioning of ‘the Chapel of Grace’ at the Plateau State Government House. The chapel underwent a transformative renovation and beautification initiative led by the state government.
Drawing inspiration from Psalm 132, Brother Gbili Akanni emphasized the importance of inviting God to dwell in the hearts of individuals rather than focusing solely on physical structures. “God is far more interested in finding habitation in the hearts of men and women, with Christ given the rightful position in the hearts,” he remarked.
The event, attended by esteemed dignitaries and revered clergy members, witnessed the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, extend warm greetings to the guests. In his address, Governor Mutfwang underscored the significance of unity among the state’s diverse tribes and denominations. He envisioned the chapel as a unifying symbol, serving as a conduit for prayer, worship, and the spiritual rebuilding of Plateau State.
Quoting from Ephesians 4:1-5, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for past contributions while urging a collective effort to propel Plateau State forward. “It is time to move Plateau ahead, and I believe that God has designed Plateau to bring Nigeria into the glory that Africa is waiting for,” he declared optimistically.
The Reverend Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, in his welcome address, shed light on the core values imbued within the chapel. These values, he explained, include prayer, love, accountability, integrity, compassion, holistic missions, excellence, authentic leadership, and unity of faith.
Special prayers for Plateau State, Nigeria, and the Sahel region were offered by Reverend Dr. Amos Mohzo, COCIN President; Reverend Dunka Gomwalk, PFN Chairman Plateau State; and Prophet Isa El-Buba, National Vice President PFN North Central. Additionally, a special rededication prayer was led by Most Reverend Mathew Ishaya Audu, Catholic Archbishop of Jos, and Right Reverend Dr. Nkechi Nwosu, Methodist Bishop of Jos Diocese.
The ceremony culminated with the consecration and commissioning of the new chaplain, Reverend Benjamin A. Nadabo, by Reverend Dr. Panya Baba, ECWA President, and CAN National Vice President and goodwill messages from the former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah Jang, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo – CAN Chairman Plateau State.
The rededication of the Plateau State Government House Chapel serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of spiritual nourishment amidst the challenges facing the state and the nation at large. Through prayer, unity, and a shared commitment to faith, the event symbolizes hope for a brighter future rooted in spiritual values and communal harmony.
