Appeal Court: Plateau Reps, Beni Lar and Dachung Musa Bagos React

Abuja, November 7, 2023 – In a surprising turn of events, the Court of Appeal in Abuja has delivered a verdict affecting two prominent Plateau State representatives, Hon. Beni Lar of the Great Langtang North and South Federal Constituency, and Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos of Jos South/Jos East Constituency.

Hon. Beni Lar Addresses Great Langtang North and South Constituency:

In response to the court’s decision, Hon. Beni Lar conveyed her message to the constituents of the Great Langtang North and South Federal Constituency. The court upheld the Tribunal’s verdict, leading to the withdrawal of her Certificate of Return and its subsequent issuance to the first-runner up, despite a significant difference in lawful votes.

While expressing confusion over the court’s reasoning, Lar urged her constituents to uphold the rule of law and maintain calm, law-abiding, and peaceful conduct. She reassured them of her continued commitment to the constituency’s development, Plateau state, and Nigeria. Emphasizing the need to rise above this setback, Lar invoked the belief that the voice of the people is the voice of God, highlighting the sacred mandate bestowed upon her.

“This is not the end, and victory is from God alone,” Lar declared, thanking her constituents for their unwavering support.

Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos Addresses Jos South/Jos East Constituents:

Simultaneously, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos addressed the constituents of Jos South/Jos East Constituency, expressing his reaction to the Court of Appeal’s decision on November 7, 2023.

Despite the reassignment of his mandate due to reasons unrelated to the overwhelming support he received, Bagos urged his constituents to remain calm, law-abiding, and resolute. He emphasized his belief in God’s plan for every situation and expressed gratitude for the mandate, assuring constituents that their voices would not be silenced.

Bagos pledged to continue standing for justice, asserting that the progress and growth of the next generation relied on justice. He reminded constituents that their voices resided in him, the office holder, and invoked the Latin phrase “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” – the voice of the people is the voice of God.

“This too shall pass,” Bagos concluded, rallying the constituents to trust in the divine and the resilience of their collective will.

The Plateau State representatives now face a challenging road ahead as they navigate the legal implications and public reactions stemming from the Appellate Court’s decision.
