the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal in Jalingo, Taraba State, has officially affirmed Dr. Agbu Kefas as the duly elected governor of Taraba State. The verdict was delivered on Saturday following the dismissal of a petition filed by the New Nigerian People’s Party and its candidate, Prof. Sani Yahaya. The tribunal ruled that the petition lacked merit.
Similarly, the Sokoto State Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal, presided over by a three-man panel led by Justice Haruna Msheila, has upheld the election of Ahmed Aliyu as the governor of Sokoto State. The tribunal’s ruling dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Saidu Umar, who had challenged the victory of Governor Aliyu in the March 18 poll.
In both cases, the respective panels determined that the petitioners failed to substantiate their claims beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the validation of the governors’ electoral victories.
