Super Falcons footballer Michelle Alozie has addressed speculations about her sexuality, following a viral Instagram post featuring her and a female friend. The photo was posted with a caption that raised questions among her followers.
Alozie, who gained widespread recognition and admiration from male fans during her impressive performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, shared the controversial photo on her Instagram stories.
In the caption, she used the word ‘husband’ while referring to her friend Diana Ordonez, which triggered a flurry of reactions on social media. She wrote, “Happy us over them day…to my husband.”
Her post elicited a lot of reactions on the microblogging platform, X, with many questioning her s3xuality; some went as far as describing her as a lesbian.
Reacting to the uproar, Alozie reposted a post on X by Ordonez.
“You guys can stop reaching now, we like boys and I’m out here looking for my husband,” the post read.
She further posted that she likes boys and not girls. She wrote: “I like guys. lol. relax.”
She added, “I promise you there are more important issues to discuss in the world than my s3xuality.”
Alozie has been making headlines since impressing at the World Cup.
She once said she had a crush on Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi.
