In response to heightened tension following the recent ruling by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which led to the removal of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Kano State has witnessed the imposition of a 24-hour curfew, resulting in an enhanced security presence in and around Kano metropolis Daily Trust reports.
The tribunal’s decision declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2023 Governorship Election, exacerbating political tensions in the state.
Security operatives have been deployed to all major streets and roads throughout the metropolis to enforce the curfew and maintain public safety.
