Gabonese General Brice Oligui Nguema has been sworn in as the country’s interim president following a coup last week that ended 55 years of rule by the Bongo dynasty.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, with General Oligui taking the oath of office.
“I swear before God and the Gabonese people to faithfully preserve the republican regime,” said Oligui, who has pledged to hold elections after a still-unspecified transition period.
