Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, the Member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives, has declared his intention to initiate a lawsuit against the organizers of the Big Brother Naija All Stars show for a staggering N10 billion.
Tarkighir’s decision to take legal action stems from comments made by contestant Venita Akpofure during the reality show that he contends defamed the Tiv Nation.
The contentious statement by Venita asserted that “Tiv men give their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes,” which incited outrage among the Tiv community in North Central Nigeria and led to widespread calls for legal redress.
Her assertion sparked outrage among the Tiv people of North Central, Nigeria, with many calling for legal action against her.
Consequently, Hon. Tarkighir has said Venita and the Big Brother Naija brand should be sued for giving her “the mega platform to defame the Tiv tribe.”
On his Facebook page, he wrote:“#Venita Akpofure- Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand and its promoters, they provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire tribe and are equally liable for not disowning her.”
Venita has two daughters with Terna Tarka, a Tiv man from Benue State.
