The gubernatorial candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11 polls in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States, Dino Melaye, Douye Diri, and Sam Anyanwu, have received their certificates of return.
The trio were issued the certificate of return yesterday during the party’s inauguration of the Campaign Council for the governorship elections across the three states.
Melaye, Diri and Anyanwu had, respectively, emerged as their state’s party governorship flagbearers during the primary election conducted earlier in the year.
This news platform understands that the 186-member campaign council for Imo State is chaired by Governor Lawal Dauda of Zamfara State, who is deputized by Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, and the council secretary is Senator Chukwuka Utazi.
In Kogi State, the Campaign Council will comprise 150 members to be chaired by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who will be deputized by Governor Caleb Matfwang of Plataue State and Senator Biodun Olujimi as secretary.
The Bayelsa State Campaign Council is chaired by Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, with Governor Sheriff Obrevwori of Delta State as the Deputy Chairman, while Gabriel Onyeweife will serve as Secretary of the council.
Barring last minutes decisions, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) maintained that the governorship elections for Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states would hold on November 11, 2023.
