Plateau State Inaugurates New Executive Council, Demonstrating Commitment to Unity and Development
Plateau State witnessed a display of enthusiasm and renewed hope on Friday as Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang inaugurated the members of his Executive Council. The event took place at the Langfield Leisure and Park in Rayfield and was attended by individuals representing diverse ethnic, religious, and political backgrounds from all 17 Local Government Areas.
The inauguration ceremony marked a significant step towards revitalizing the government’s efforts for effective service delivery, aligning with Governor Mutfwang’s mission to rebuild a unified and prosperous Plateau. With the attendance of citizens from various backgrounds, there was a prevailing sense of optimism that the state would experience substantial development under the newly appointed council.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of prioritizing the collective welfare of the state over personal ambitions. He expressed gratitude for the large turnout and acknowledged the challenges faced in selecting the council members, noting that sometimes, God’s purpose may differ from our own.
The governor’s faith in destiny was evident as he expressed confidence that each individual’s intentions, aligned with God’s plan, would ultimately manifest positively. He also highlighted his administration’s commitment to inclusivity, particularly for women and youth, promising to involve them actively in government efforts.
In his address, Governor Mutfwang celebrated the relative peace in the state and called upon all Plateau citizens, regardless of their faith or ethnicity, to unite for the progress of the state. He reminded the newly appointed commissioners that this was an opportunity to serve the people and not for personal gain.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of members of the Teachers Service Commission, Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board, and the Special Adviser on Gender, Barr. (Mrs.) Olivia Dazyem. Dr. Kachollom Gang, speaking on behalf of the commissioners, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and pledged transparency and accountability in the best interests of the state.
Following the inauguration, Governor Caleb Mutfwang allocated portfolios to the newly appointed Commissioners. Notably, Mr. Peter L Gwom from Barkin Ladi Local Government was appointed to lead the Ministry of Environment, while Hon. Sule Musa Haruna from Bassa would oversee the Ministry of Commerce. Adams Bulus Leshak from Bokkos would head the Works Ministry, and Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms of Jos East would manage the Ministry of Information and Culture.
Other appointments included Peter Nyam Gai from Jos North as the overseer of Lands and Survey, and Mr. Jatau Davou Gyang from Jos South in charge of the Ministry of Transport. Mr. Bugama Samson Ishaku of Kanke would handle the Ministry of Agriculture, and Hon. Ephraim Usman of Kanam would be responsible for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Hon. Joshua Lever Ubandoma of Langtang North would lead the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, and Associate Prof. Obert Gossele Nanjul from Langtang South would head the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The remaining Commissioners include Mrs. Caroline Pangiang from Mikang, who will lead the Ministry for Women Affairs, Mrs. Dongkum Grace Shwarta of Pankshin, in charge of the Ministry of Finance, and Mr. Chrysanthus Dawam of Quaanpan, responsible for Budget and Planning.
Dr. (Mrs.) Kachollom Pyam Gang of Riyom will serve as the Commissioner for Higher Education, Hon. Noel Naanniap Nkup of Shendam will oversee Water Resources and Energy, and Mr. Nyalun M. Salisu of Wase will be in charge of Secondary Education.
Bashir Lawandi Datti of Jos North will lead the Sports and Youth Ministry, Dr. Cletus Shurkuk of Pankshin will manage Health, and Mrs. Jamila Tukur of Qur’ann-Pan will be the Commissioner for Tourism and Hospitality.
