Kwara State has commenced its strike action as labour unions and other stakeholders in the state joined the nationwide protest against the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The strike was directed by the national bodies of labour movements in response to the hardships triggered by the subsidy removal.
The protesters, who remained peaceful in their conduct, gathered at the Governor’s office in Ilorin, the state capital, around 9 am. They were on their way to the Government House on Ahmadu Bello Way to deliver their grievances to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

The state Police Commissioner, Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi had on Tuesday summoned a meeting of labour leaders, students unions and heads of security agencies to plead for peaceful protest if eventually, the action would hold.
