Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has won her first-ever Grammy award.
The 27-year-old Afrobeats singer, on Sunday, won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her role in ‘Wait for U’, a 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy lost his categories: the ‘Best Global Music Album’ and the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories.
However, top Nigerian artists have joined music fans from across the world to congratulate singer Tems on winning a Grammy award
Artists including Tiwa Savage, Waje, and Omowunmi have posted messages congratulating Tems.
“It’s Tems’ time. Nobody can stop her shine. Superstar” posted Afrobeats singer Olamide.
The 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony was held at the Arena in Los Angeles.
