A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday 31st October 2022 remanded four suspected criminals at the Port Harcourt Correctional Center on five counts of conspiracy, armed robbery, and attempted murder.
According to the charges read out in court, Praise Gelson, Tamunoala Alatoru, Usman Garba, And Christian Mbaeri were alleged to have, on the 21st of September, 2022, broken into the house of former First Lady Dame Patience Goodluck-Jonathan within the Old GRA in Port Harcourt to steal valuables worth millions of naira.
The suspects, after listening to the charges read out to them in court, pleaded not guilty to the offenses.
Dimabo Karibo, who is counsel representing the second defendant, Tamunoala Alatoru, applied for bail application for his client, which was opposed by the prosecution Counsel O.M Umana who informed the court that he was not served the bail application.
However, after listening to the arguments by the counsels the presiding judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, promised to give a speedy and fair trial on the case following the congestion of the court.
Justice Enebeli, before adjourning till the 4th, 6th, 8th, and 18th of November 2022 for hearing, directed that the suspects be remanded at Port Harcourt Correctional Center.
