The army Barracks in Plateau state, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment has taken new look with the commissioning of a monumental gate, new road and also a new quarter guard.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya on Thursday 4th August 2022, led other senior officers to commission the newly remodelled 3 Division Rukuba Barracks in Jos Plateau State.
While commissioning the new edifice, the COAS, represented by the Commander, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Major General Suleiman Idris, commended the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven for initiating the developmental projects and the effective utilisation of resources to improve the infrastructural needs of troops in the Cantonment.
Lt General Faruk Yahaya, said the projects will improve the security of the Cantonment and provide conducive ambiance for the personnel of 3 Division to enhance professional discharge of their duties. He stated that the Nigerian Army will not relent in ensuring infrastructures of the barracks are modernised and given a face-lift
The COAS charged the troops to remain committed and professionally ensure the maximum utilisation and maintenance of infrastructures.
Responding, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major Gen. I S Ali, said he was inspired towards ensuring Army infrastructures of the barracks are modernised and given a face-lift to meet current realities. He said the projects was in line with the COAS cardinal principle of Administration aimed at rekindling professionalism in Headquarters 3 Division with the new Quarter Guard now sited to the right side of the enterance into Military formation as required by standard.
He Appreciated the COAS for his continues guidance and support to troops welfare and wellbeing of the Nigerian Army personnel and assured the COAS of his men’s commitment to duty.
General Ali further stated that the projects were aimed at leaving a befitting legacy for the Division. He revealed that more developmental projects will soon be unveiled and commissioned in the Cantonment.
The COAS went on to donate new hilux van to 3 Division Regimental Sergeant Major shortly after Inspection and commissioning of the newly constructed, gate, road and Quarter Guard.
